Hello and welcome to our listing! We - Susan and Hendrik - live in the hills of Tennessee, municipality of Pikeville, and are trying our best at homesteading. During the last 4 years we built a house that has a little apartment above the garage in which we lived ourselves till recently (22 x 26 ft, bathroom, 2 rooms and a kitchen-living room). We also set up a polycarbonate covered greenhouse (20 x 30 ft) and are planning to get a tunnel as well. In all we have 5 acres of land, of which maybe 2,5 acres can be used (the rest is wooded land and sloping. The land is close to the hillcrest on the north side of the Sequatchie Valley that runs in an east-west direction, so there is plenty of sun. There is an artificial pond created for irrigation purposes. Susan and I are 72 years old and cannot possibly handle everything there is to do. Maybe you - single person or couple - would be interested in joining us. The major condition would be the rent of the apartment. We were thinking of a rent of $ 1200 or a pay-by-work arrangement or any combination that would work for both parties. Alternatively, we have a Sportsmen Caravan (22 feet long) that could serve as accommodation for someone that likes to be even closer to the outdoors. We would be willing to set our property at the disposal of the potential co-worker(s); the possibilities would be endless. Producing K2-rich eggs, growing mushrooms, veggies, fruit trees, keeping bees, etc. to create a source of income. A brother that lives in the area of Pikeville (he runs an auto shop) just purchased a building along the main road, about 1,5 miles north of Pikeville (on 127 direction Crossville), that he wants to use as a health center. It has a kitchen, a restauration area and various rooms. This could also be a possible field to be worked. We were thinking of starting with a health-food restaurant offering lunches 5 days a week.
